Educational Domestic Violence Video Tapes Distributed to Local Law Enforcement Departments

Ed Harris, Law Enforcement Coordinator for the STOP Grant and Linda Collins, Executive Director of Laurel House and Coordinator of the STOP Grant, are promoting safety of women in Montgomery County by distributing to all law enforcement departments training "roll call" tapes on domestic violence-related issues, including properly responding to and intervening in domestic violence incidents. The videos are intended to enhance the response to domestic violence by the criminal justice system, and are being distributed to all the county's police departments and criminal justice personnel. The STOP Grant project teams law enforcement, victim agencies and the District Attorney's Office to comprhensively address both the behavioral and systemic issues associated with successfully addressing violence against women. Funding is used to provide training for law enforcement officers, develop more effective police policies and develop and improve data collection and communications systems linking police, prosecutors and the courts. The STOP Grant is a 3 year grant funded through the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency via the Violence Against Women's Act.
